Screening for Silent Risks
- AAA Scan (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm):A painless ultrasound that checks for bulges in the primary artery in the abdomen. This is a critical one-time screening covered by Medicare Part B for those at risk (men 65-75 with a history of smoking or a family history of AAA).
- CAC (Coronary Artery Calcium) Test:A non-invasive CT scan that measures the amount of calcified plaque in your heart arteries, providing a "calcium score" that is a powerful predictor of future heart attacks.
Specialized Diagnostic Tools
- Cardiac PET & SPECT Stress Tests:Advanced nuclear imaging used to evaluate blood flow to the heart muscle and identify areas of blockage.
- PYP Scanning:A specialized nuclear test for patients with suspected Infiltrative Cardiomyopathy (Amyloidosis). This is essential for patients with unexplained heart failure or low-voltage EKGs despite having thickened heart walls (hypertrophy).
