At Northwest Houston Heart Center, we offer Same-Day Cardiac Urgent Care for non-life-threatening symptoms. This service bridges the gap between a standard office visit and the Emergency Room, providing you with immediate access to board-certified cardiologists and advanced diagnostic tools without the long wait times or high costs of an ER visit.

When to Seek Cardiac Urgent Care

Our urgent care is designed for patients experiencing new or worsening symptoms that require immediate evaluation but are not currently life-threatening. This includes:

  • Chest Discomfort:Pressure, tightness, or burning sensations, particularly those that radiate to the arm, neck, jaw, or back, or occur during exertion.
  • Heart Palpitations:A feeling that your heart is skipping a beat, fluttering, or beating too hard or too fast.
  • Blood Pressure Crisis:Blood pressure readings that are significantly higher than your baseline and not responding to medication, or blood pressure that is dangerously low.
  • Fluid Retention:Rapid weight gain (more than 5 pounds in 48 hours) or new swelling in the legs (edema), which may indicate the early stages of heart failure.
  • Breathing Issues:Shortness of breath (dyspnea) at rest, during minimal activity, or waking up gasping for air at night (paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea).
  • Vascular Warning Signs:Leg pain while walking (claudication), or extremities that have become cold, discolored, or numb. The Northwest Houston Difference

Emergency Disclaimer: If you are experiencing severe, crushing chest pain accompanied by sweating, nausea, or fainting, or if you show signs of a stroke (facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty), call 911 immediately. Our urgent care is for non-life-threatening emergencies only.
