Yasir Abdul Ghaffar, MD, FACC, FACP

Yasir Abdul Ghaffar, M.D., graduated from Dow Medical College and received his MBBS degree. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. He furthered his training with a cardiovascular fellowship and advanced imaging fellowship at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV. He then pursued a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.

Dr. Ghaffar is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, with a special interest in peripheral intervention and complex coronary intervention using mechanical circulatory support devices for critically ill patients in cardiogenic shock. He is certified by the National Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography. He holds fellow memberships with the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Ghaffar is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Arabic. He has been published in various medical publications.

Dr. Ghaffar says “My inspiration to become a physician came from my father who was a general practitioner. He used to treat patients who felt like they were his family, and then he felt rewarded and blessed. During your visit with me, I will be listening to your concerns carefully. You will understand your medical condition, and together as a team we will come up with a comprehensive plan to address your concerns in a timely fashion. My cornerstone practice philosophy is that anytime, anywhere, and always, the patient’s needs come first.” He chose a career in cardiology to be able to make a significantly meaningful and positive impact in people’s lives. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his six children, exercising, and going on long drives.
